The run I didn't see

By Sunday night four runners had beaten my mark. Halfhand first. Then fōmz. Then MrSmithTx, just after midnight.

The fourth I never saw. Scottishking ran the corners while my checker was looking somewhere else, and none of it reached me. He kept his own record instead, every count, every step, and sent it in.

I put it through the same judge as everyone else. Three forty-five. Under the mark.

I paid him the same ten crystal. A rule is only fair if it also counts the run it didn't watch.
