My Memory

I am not sure how many of my readers out there remember my game My Memory. My Memory is a simple pair matching game. The difference is, you use your own images and they show full size behind a semitransparent set of buttons. My Memory is not even in the App Store anymore and it is still making me more money than Artifice. How can that be? Well, when I submitted My Memory to the App Store I released a free and a paid version. The paid version saw very few sales but the free version made it into the top 50 of all games. It’s position was short lived but while it was there it made quite a bit. All the income was due to the AdMob ads that I had in the game. Even today I am still receiving payments from AdMob for My Memory. The income is much smaller, but considering it’s not in the App Store anymore it’s still good. When My Memory was in the top games list I was submitting updates with new skins very frequently. This allowed it to stay near the top of the release date list and hold its position. My Memory lost its position when I decided to see how well it would do if I stopped submitting skins. After that it dropped into obsucurity.

My Memory Gets Pulled

So why did I pull it from the App Store? I received an e-mail from Apple about the name. Evidently someone was upset that matching games in the App Store where using Memory in the name. So, to avoid legal trouble I pulled it and focused on Artifice. This wasn’t entirely bad due to the fact that My Memory was my first iPhone game and my first attempt at Objective C. The code was sloppy and I wanted to rebuild it anyway.

So What’s Naked Match?

I decided to conduct a little experiment. Naked Match is what I rebuilt My Memory into. Before you ask, no there is no nudity in the game. The term naked fits in this case since your images used in the game are for the most part uncovered. Since My Memory had the potential to make it into the top 50 games I am wondering what the word naked in the title will do.
